Get ready for some spooktacular crafting this Halloween! Engaging in crafts is a fantastic way for kids to express their creativity while preparing for the festive season. Here are some fun ideas:
Pumpkin Decorating: Instead of carving, let the kids paint mini pumpkins with their favorite colors and designs. This is safer and allows for endless creativity! Honestly - once I let the idea go of having to get the tools and trace a design and just let the kids paint or color or add many stickers to them - it honestly was so much less stressful! We even glued some leaves to it that they collected on their leaf scavenger hunt and they were really cute.
*Hot tip for adults: Try the viral trend of using Mod Podge and one layer of a tissue napkin to adhere it to the pumpkin for a fun, floral or holiday-themed design. White pumpkins work best for this!
Ghostly Garlands: Make a garland of ghostly figures using white fabric and black markers. It’s a fun decoration to hang around the house! You can also use paper or yarn. Wrap the yarn around a piece of cardboard over and over to create the head and body of your ghost - then cut the yarn on one end to let it hang and tie a small piece of yarn around the other side to help create the head. You can add googly eyes or just paint eyes on or even leave totally blank as well for a cleaner decor look.
Paper Plate Masks: Create fun Halloween masks using paper plates, paint, and various craft supplies. We cute out the middle for our own eyes and decorate the rest to look like Frankenstein or a witch. Nicky loves to make a pumpkin face on his. You can also use a tongue compressor to make it be a photo booth accessory for all the kids to use in the classroom Halloween party.
