MV BARKERY - Small Business Feature

We were lucky enough to learn about the MV BARKERY at the Edgartown Village Market this week.  After checking them out online, we knew we had to follow along.  Their story is so heartwarming and their treats for pups are absolutely adorable!

MV BARKERY was founded by mom, Edie, in an attempt to give her son, Henry, meaningful employment after he aged out of the education system at age 22.  Edie hopes to one day grow her bakery to be able to have a storefront to employ additional neurodiverse people and adults with autism.  As she says, “everyone just needs a chance”.

I can relate to this story all too well as I formerly worked with young adults with complex learning challenges.  Once children outgrow an educational system and a school that they were able to adapt to - they are sometimes left with the difficult task of adjusting to a new “world” for themselves in finding a job or residential placement.

I luckily was the 500th follower on their Instagram page and was gifted the most adorable treats for our sweet pups.  I can’t wait to get home and share these with Harry, Teddy and Goose - the perfect birthday present for sweet Goosey.
