Last Minute Costumes for Kids: DIY Ideas for a SPOOKtacular Halloween

It is definitely not too late - we have you covered for last minute ideas this year!

Don’t stress - we can make this fun for everyone involved!  Let your kids to tap into their creativity with some fun DIY costume ideas. Not only is making costumes a fun activity, but it also gives kids the chance to express themselves.

DIY Superhero: Let your child design their own superhero outfit using colorful fabrics, capes, and masks. They can even add their own logo!  What does your superhero do?  GLOW IN THE DARK!  Awesome - let’s add some glow-in-the-dark stickers to the cape or a mask and really have some fun while trick-or-treating.  Not to mention, this is a great way to also stay safe when it starts to get dark.  Let their creativity drive the costume creation!

Classic Monsters: Transform old clothes into classic monster costumes like mummies or vampires. Face paint can add that perfect finishing touch.  Working with scissors in school?  This is a great opportunity to hone those skills while cutting lines or holes or maybe even fringe on an old sweatshirt.  Use a glue gun (with parental assistance) or heavy duty glue to cut patches from old clothes and add all over your jeans or sweatshirts.  Cut them into letters to spell something spooky like “BOO!”

Favorite Characters: Help your kids bring their favorite book or movie characters to life with homemade accessories.  We love Bluey right now so all the things that are great for them to use are some examples from their favorite episodes.  You know I’m talking about “HERE COME THE GRANNIES!”  Use an old beach towel or blanket, old glasses with the lenses popped out and a cane to make these cuties come to life!  You KNOW Janet would love to go trick-or treating!

For added creativity, consider our Buggy Bag Halloween Craft Kit, which includes materials for making costume accessories! Get crafting and make this Halloween truly unique!
